What is the fourth Act?
In traditional narrative cinema, every film we watch is made up of three “acts” or stages: the setup, the confrontation, and the resolution. But there’s also a fourth act just as essential to any memorable movie experience, one that I like to call the conversation. It’s that moment after we leave the theater when we sit down with our friends and family to talk about what we just saw, posing questions, offering theories, and debating the film’s meaning.
This website is my tribute to cinema’s fourth act—a way for me to share and digest some of the countless conversations that made me fall in love with the movies in the first place.
Notebook
A space for longer-form think pieces exploring cinema as an art form. Some posts will focus on analyzing specific scenes or techniques from a classic, while others will grapple with broader questions related to film theory, style, and history.
Reviews
My personal critical takes on recent releases that I’ve been especially excited for or curious about. These will typically be spoiler-free, include a rating (on a four star scale), and focus on general qualities of the films, such as story, acting, direction, pacing, and overall impact.
